FAQ
Everything you need to know before sending a track
Straight answers about the artists, the feedback you receive, and what happens after checkout.
Getting started
What is BeatAdvisor?
BeatAdvisor is a marketplace for music feedback. You choose a verified artist, send them one of your tracks, and receive focused comments tied to exact moments in the music.
Who can request feedback?
Adults 18 and older with a listener account can upload a track and request a service from an artist who is currently accepting orders, subject to eligibility and supported-market restrictions. Artist accounts use a separate application and onboarding process.
How does a feedback request work?
Create an account, upload your track, explore artists, and choose the person whose experience fits your sound. Select a feedback focus, add any instructions, and complete checkout. The request then appears in the artist’s queue.
What can I ask an artist to focus on?
You can request general, composition, mixdown, mastering, sound design, or vocal feedback. You can also include your own instructions, such as asking about an arrangement decision, a transition, or whether the mix translates clearly.
What kind of audio can I upload?
The uploader accepts individual WAV, FLAC, MP3, M4A, and AAC tracks up to 100 MB and 15 minutes. Add a track title and genre before uploading. A listener library can contain up to ten tracks; DJ mixes are not currently supported.
Does my track need to be finished?
No. You can send a sketch, work in progress, mix, or near-final master. Tell the artist what stage the track is in so they can judge it against the right goal.
Feedback and delivery
What do I receive?
Detailed feedback includes at least three meaningful written comments tied to moments in your track. Just a listen is a separate service: the artist listens to the full track, records a decision, and sends a short personal response. Neither service guarantees promotion, placement, signing, or collaboration.
How long does feedback take?
Use the deadline shown in My Orders. The intended window is up to seven days, but an order can have a shorter deadline because its card authorization expires earlier. You can follow its status and open the completed feedback or response there.
Is this a live call or a written review?
Feedback is currently delivered as written comments attached to timestamps in the track. A request does not include a live call, chat session, production work, or file revision unless BeatAdvisor explicitly adds that option.
Can I ask follow-up questions or request revisions?
The current order is for the artist’s timestamped feedback on the submitted track. It does not include a revision round or an ongoing consultation, so include the decisions you care about most in your request instructions.
Can I review the artist afterward?
Yes. After an order is completed, the listener who placed it can leave a rating and written review for that artist. Reviews are tied to completed orders rather than open public submissions.
Will the artist like my track or help me get signed?
Feedback is an honest professional opinion, not a promise of praise, placement, collaboration, representation, or a label introduction. The value is a credible outside perspective you can apply to your own creative decisions.
Payments and cancellations
How much does feedback cost?
Each artist sets the rate shown on their profile. BeatAdvisor adds a service fee at checkout, and you can review the full total before paying.
When am I charged?
Stripe securely authorizes the payment at checkout. BeatAdvisor captures it after the artist completes the order with the required feedback. Your bank may display the authorization as pending while the request is open.
Can I cancel a request?
An eligible Pending request can be canceled from My Orders before it becomes Started. After that, contact support about service problems or statutory withdrawal rights. A released authorization can take time to disappear, depending on your bank. The Refund and Cancellation Policy explains the details.
What happens if the deadline is missed?
The system is designed to cancel overdue, uncaptured orders based on the displayed deadline. Payment exceptions can require support review. Your bank controls when a released hold disappears; a captured payment requires a separate refund review.
Is payment information stored by BeatAdvisor?
Checkout and payment processing are handled by Stripe. BeatAdvisor stores the order and payment references needed to track its status, but card entry takes place in Stripe’s checkout flow.
Artists and advisors
Who gives the feedback?
Feedback comes from artists who have applied to participate as BeatAdvisor advisors. Their public profiles help you compare their background, genres, rate, reviews, and creative perspective before choosing.
What does verified artist mean?
It means BeatAdvisor has reviewed and approved the artist for the marketplace. Verification is a trust and eligibility signal; it is not a guarantee that their taste, opinion, or advice will match every listener.
How do I choose the right artist?
Start with genre fit, then consider the artist’s biography, perspective, rate, and customer reviews. The best choice is usually the person whose ear and experience match the specific decision you are trying to make—not simply the broadest résumé.
How do I become an advisor?
Apply through the artist signup page. Applicants provide professional and social details for review. Approved artists then complete their profile and Stripe onboarding before they can publish a profile, set a rate, and accept requests.
How and when do advisors get paid?
Stripe Connect handles payouts. Payment capture follows completion of the purchased service, and the applicable platform fee is deducted from the artist price. Capture is not an immediate bank payout: Stripe availability, verification, refunds, and disputes can affect the timing.
Accounts and privacy
Are listener and artist accounts different?
Yes. Listener accounts upload tracks and place feedback requests. Artist accounts apply to become advisors, complete onboarding, manage a public profile, and fulfill orders. Their signup and dashboard experiences are separate.
Is my uploaded music published publicly?
Uploading a track does not list it in the public artist marketplace. Tracks are used inside the feedback workflow, but BeatAdvisor should not be treated as a private archival or pre-release security vault. Only upload material you are comfortable sharing for review and consult the Privacy Policy for how data is handled.
Can I delete my account?
Account controls depend on the account type. Advisors cannot delete their account while they have open orders. If an account cannot be removed from its settings, contact BeatAdvisor support so any active orders and required records can be handled correctly.
